Champions League Odds and Sods 20 Feb 2008

Liverpool 2 - Inter Milan 0 On Saturday, Liverpool lost to lower league opposition at Anfield. Seventy-two hours later on the same pitch, they scored a decisive victory against the best side (statistically) in Europe. Benitez has infused this squad with a mentality. The mentality of a manic depressive. The only thing that is consistent, the boredom.
Olympiakos 0 - Chelsea 0 Yet more evidence for my theory that Avram Grant is a dementor that escaped from Azkaban, sucking away enjoyment wherever he travels. Is it too much to ask of the dark one to throw a second striker on occasionally?
Roma 2 - Real Madrid 1 The Giallorossi got a needed victory in the first leg, though not a decisive one. History and common sense augur a Real Madrid resurgence, and it is hard to disagree.
Schalke 04 1 - FC Porto 0 Kuranyi scored on four minutes to seal the deal for Schalke. It would be nice to see the Germans go through to the quarterfinals, and not just because it is really fun to say “Schalke” in a heavy German accent.
