Goal of the Week 5 March 2007

This week’s goal comes from the rollercoaster that was Sunday’s West Ham vs. Spurs match at Upton Park. This fabulous goal from the superbly talented Carlos Tevez (his first in the Premiership) was a sublime freekick in the 42nd minute that put the Hammers ahead 2-0. West Ham desperately needed the win to stay up but collapsed at the end of the match blowing a 3-2 lead with minutes to play, succumbing to Tottenham 4-3.

I think Berbatov’s goal was probably just as skillful, but I chose Tevez because it was great to see the young lad get his first goal. Hopefully, he will stay in the Premiership with another team next season who can more adeptly employ his talent.

P.S. A+ on the celebration!

Fantastic game. I hope the next game, in Braga, will be so spectacular as this one. You’re welcome in Braga in this fantastic stadium!
